Zipsters in our Payments squad are responsible for the technology and systems that support the issuance of virtual and physical cards, enabling our customers to spend anywhere with our merchant partners. This is an integral part of our core product offering, and the team's work and close partnership with our Product teams contributes billions of dollars in transactions every year.

Interesting problems you’ll get to solve 

  • Scale our core card issuance programs, including: physical cards, in-store payments (Google and Apple Pay), in-app virtual card issuance and direct merchant integrations utilizing our virtual cards to serve millions of customers while considering the state management of millions of issued cards
  • Collaborate across teams to deliver payment product solutions, including flexible loan installments and exploring AI-driven business processes
  • Integrate with new or existing issuing partners to improve the resiliency of our systems
  • Think and conceive ideas on how to manage internal and external token credentials that enables our team to reduce our processing costs and increase our revenue
  • Develop secure code that can scale to handle thousands of concurrent users
  • Contribute to early-stage requirement conversations by assessing/creating trade-offs between different engineering approaches 
  • Mentor and share knowledge with colleagues to level up the team collectively

What you’ll bring to the team 

  • 5+ years of experience working in microservices and event-driven architecture(s)
  • Proficiency with C# and .Net or similar languages and frameworks
  • Familiarity with cloud-native technologies, such as Azure Service Bus (or similar message brokers) and Azure Kubernetes Service (or equivalent)
  • Proficiency in designing and profiling append-only/relational databases
  • Enthusiasm for a fast-paced, collaborative work environment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • The ability to think critically and make data-driven decisions
  • Experience debugging and troubleshooting complex distributed systems
  • Prior experience in the payments/financial industry, especially with card network schemes is highly preferred
  • Experience with CQRS and Event Sourcing, particularly working with EventStore DB is especially desirable
  • Bonus points if you are proficient in advanced modeling techniques like C4 and Domain-Driven Design

The Pay Range for this position: $135,200- $175,000 USD based on the industry benchmark for position, function, level and Zip's compensation strategies. However, actual base salary will depend on varying circumstances and individualized factors, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations.
