Reporting to the Group Senior  Director of Taxation, this is a newly created role within our AU finance organization.  As a fast growing Australian headquartered fintech, we need a highly-motivated tax professional to #own the Transfer Pricing obligations and compliance reporting. The role will initially be supported by Zip’s Tax advisors and Senior Director of Taxation with a view to bringing in-house as much of the TP compliance function as possible. You will #own the TP compliance, updating legal agreements and TP reports, and ensure that you manage the impacts of both existing and new reporting requirements.

Your role will be hands on, with no direct reports, ensuring Zip is meeting both its current and future taxation filing and reporting obligations.

You will work with the Group Finance teams to ensure all data is captured as well as advise the teams on the appropriate TP methodology. You will also work with wider management/executives and operational teams on sourcing inputs to evaluate the current cost drivers of the business. You will implement Country By Country Reporting and automate where possible.

The role can either be full time or part time for someone with more experience looking for a flexible option.

Interesting problems you’ll get to solve

  • Driving the Transfer Pricing policy of the group.
  • Review of all cross border recharges and advise the business. 
  • Build the Master transfer Pricing file more formally and stock take all external TP reports – review reports and update where needed.
  • Manage the Value Chain analysis on a regular basis, working with all stakeholders in the business to review economic drivers and update where appropriate.
  • Review the International Dealings Schedule disclosures for the AU TCG return.
  • Manage the interest bearing loans of the group including updating loan agreements, working with Treasury on updating the interest rate, review and advise on legacy inter companies of the group.
  • Manage the NZ BEPS disclosure form, NZ Restricted transfer Pricing obligations and manage the operational statement.
  • Updating any overseas TP reports and ensuring local obligations are met including any overseas cross border dealings compliance.
  • Ensure the business is compliant with CbC reporting and automating the reporting.
  • Transfer pricing planning, including Operational Model Effectiveness projects that seek to obtain tax efficiencies. Develop tax positions and advice that are accurate and optimally beneficial to the Group.
  • Analyse on new tax legislation and other tax developments /announcements and provide analysis and recommendations to stakeholders both within the Tax team and outside the Tax team.
  • Simplify and where possible, automate TP processes documentation and reporting and other relevant work processes.
  • Assist on the taxation administration on a Group basis – including oversight of any non-resident withholding reporting and payments, cross border recharges and associated documentation, advising group financial control teams .
  • Ensuring TP journals are appropriately recorded and coded correctly.
  • Working with external advisors as appropriate.
  • Assist and prepare tax calculations and compliance as required.
  • Assist on projects and lead on improvements as required.

What you’ll bring to the team

  • 10 years post graduate taxation related experience in both a chartered and multinational business environment.
  • Significant experience with corporate income tax across compliance, provisioning and advice. This should be delivered in a multinational business setting.
  • Deep transfer pricing experience across multiple jurisdictions (including OECD framework and arm’s length principles).
  • Experience in implementing tax processes and projects, including transactions, systems and processes.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant jurisdictional corporate tax rules, regulations and relevant accounting rules.
  • CA / CPA / Master / Legal practicing certificate preferred
  • Strong ability to effectively evaluate tax risks and benefits and provide sound business advice
  • Ability to work with different stakeholders across the group and all levels of Finance, Management and Operational teams across AU, NZ & US jurisdictions and associated time zones.
  • Strong experience with tax software and skills to project manage implementation
  • Self-motivated, ability to take initiative and strong ability to follow up;
  • Organized and disciplined in approach and work;
