You’ll take on a broad role requiring a mix of technical and leadership skills, and offering you the opportunity to make a significant impact in a complex, fast-paced fintech with millions of customers across Australia and New Zealand. Reporting into ANZ Financial Controller, you will lead the team to deliver timely and accurate results to stakeholders.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a finance professional to work closely with the broader Finance team, business leaders and support us as we continuously improve systems and processes, and help set Zip up for the next phase of growth.
Interesting problems you’ll get to solve
- Lead and manage the month end close process with a particular focus on uplifting controls and driving efficiencies
- Support reporting processes and deliver timely and accurate information to both internal and external Stakeholders
- Empower and develop your team of 5, ensuring the development of technical and soft skills
- Help to embed a strong culture of risk management within the team including an understanding of processes and controls and high-quality documentation
- Write and review memos for technical accounting issues, with a focus on IFRS 9, 15 and 38
- Write and review policy and process documents
- Work with the business to ensure appropriate upstream controls and timely and accurate information flows to finance
- Support the audit and half year review process of the Group and local statutory audits.
- Assist the Group Financial Control team, where applicable including contributing to the half year and full year financial reporting
- Support the budgeting and forecasting process.
- Produce analysis and insights for senior management, including the global exec team and the Board.
- Provide input and support on projects across the business including new products and system implementations
- Provide ad-hoc support and analysis, as required.
What you’ll bring to the team
- 7+ years relevant finance and accounting experience.
- CA/CPA qualified.
- Experience working in financial control within financial services and/or experience in a big 4 accounting firm (Manager level and above) with a strong understanding of IFRS 9 and 15
- Experience as a leader of teams
- A track record of improving processes and controls
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent relationship skills and ability to collaborate across the business, including with remote workers and international teams
- Comfortable with ambiguity and an ever-changing environment.
- Attention to detail.
- Desire to continually improve, including challenging the status quo and making changes to internal control processes.
