Zip appoints Cynthia Scott as ANZ Managing Director

Sydney – 16 November 2021: Zip Co Ltd (ASX: Z1P) is pleased to announce the appointment of Cynthia Scott as the company’s new ANZ Managing Director and member of the Global Executive Management Team.

Ms Scott commences with Zip today in Sydney reporting to Zip’s Global Chief Operating Officer and Co-Founder Peter Gray. She will be responsible for leading Zip’s operations in Australia and New Zealand.

Peter Gray said: “I am delighted to welcome Cynthia as our newest Zipster. She is a seasoned executive with an amazing track record in retail, real estate, telecommunications, media and 20+ years in banking. Cynthia’s leadership and experience will be invaluable in driving Zip in the ANZ region and guiding the business through our next exciting stage as we progress from a pure BNPL player to much, much more.”

“Over the past 18 months Zip has transformed from a small Australian company in two markets, to a global BNPL business operating in 13 countries. Such rapid growth and broad reach requires us to continue to evolve and build our leadership capability, as Larry and my attention increasingly moves global. This means we needed an outstanding leader to run our Australian and NZ businesses – and that person is Cynthia.”

Commenting on her appointment Ms Scott said:

“I am excited to be joining Zip at a time when BNPL is disrupting the global financial services sector. The opportunity to work with Larry, Peter and the incredible Zipsters, to deliver the next chapter of Zip’s history with innovative products, was irresistible. I’m proud to be taking responsibility for the ANZ business of an Australian-born, global payments leader who fearlessly puts customers first and in control of tomorrow.”

Before Zip, Ms Scott was Chief Strategy and Business Development Officer at Scentre Group and the Group Executive responsible for the New Business portfolio at Telstra. Prior to Telstra, Ms Scott spent 20 years in financial services, including as CEO of Barclays in Australia and New Zealand and held senior executive roles with Westpac, Merrill Lynch and UBS.

She has previously chaired Foxtel, Telstra Ventures and the NYSE-listed technology company Autohome Inc. and holds a Master of Applied Finance from Macquarie University and a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of New South Wales.
