Meet US Lead, Communications Naomi Wong who recently marked her fourth Zipsterversary! In this blog Naomi shares which parts of the Zipster experience have enabled her to grow her career fastest, and what excites her about writing the next chapter of her career here.
Tell us who you are, what you do at Zip, and a little bit more about your Zipstory
I’m Naomi Wong and I'm the Lead, US Communications. I joined Zip looking for a role where I could be challenged and stay close to how the business actually works. I’ve spent time across partner marketing, business development, content distribution, and media, but hadn’t landed on one clear lane yet. What appealed to me about Zip was the opportunity to work across functions, learn quickly, and contribute where it mattered most.
Over the last 4 years, my role has evolved alongside the business. I’ve had the chance to work across product, legal, risk, and compliance, investor relations, and more, helping shape how we communicate, especially during the moments that matter. That exposure has been a big part of why I’ve stayed.
You’ve been a Zipster for 4 years now. What has enabled you to accelerate your career fastest during your time here?
The people, and how much you learn by working closely with them.
I’ve learned the most by being in the room with teams who have different priorities and perspectives. Understanding how decisions are made and why has been just as valuable as building skills within my own function. That day-to-day exposure has helped me build a much stronger understanding of the business overall, which has naturally pushed my role and impact forward.
In your experience, what are some of the opportunities you get working in Marketing & Commmunications at Zip that you wouldn’t get working elsewhere?
The level of access and responsibility. With Communication at Zip, you work directly with senior leaders and decision makers, and you’re trusted to bring perspective, not just execute. Being able to partner closely with leadership and investor relations has given me a front-row seat to how the business operates and scales.
That trust creates space to do better work. You’re encouraged to think critically, speak up, and take ownership of how Zip shows up externally and internally.
What excites you most about writing the next chapter of your career story at Zip?
What’s ahead, both for the business and the customers we serve.
Zip is evolving quickly, and it’s meaningful to be part of the company focused on helping everyday Americans manage their cashflow. From a career perspective, I’m excited to keep learning, taking on new challenges, and growing alongside a business that doesn’t stand still.
The last 4 years have been anything but static, and that’s exactly what keeps me engaged!
