For this next blog, Team Lead for Credit Lending Viv Luu reveals what attracted her to Zip four years ago and how she gets her best work done
Tell us who you are, what you do at Zip and a little bit more about your background
My name is Vivien Luu, though most people just refer to me as Viv. I am one of the team leaders in Lending. I’ve been with Zip for almost 5 years. My journey with Zip started in 2019 in the Customer Experience (CX) team where I gained invaluable skills and developed my Customer First mentality.
Moving on from CX I went into Quality Assurance which allowed me to develop my skills in training and coaching. From QA I moved into Lending where I worked as a Credit Analyst, before eventually moved into my current role as a Lending Team Lead. The senior leaders I have worked under throughout my time here at Zip have paved the way and brought the best out of me, and alot of the success I’ve had within the company I owe to them.
What attracted you to Zip in the first place?
What initially attracted me to Zip was the people. I love coming to work every day with like-minded people who are dedicated to their jobs and have clear goals. The focus on employee wellbeing was also quite important to me and I knew that Zip prioritised supporting its employees' overall wellbeing with a holistic approach.
Additionally, Zip’s commitment to diversity definitely stood out. Having a diverse team brings a wealth of different perspectives and ideas, leading to more effective and innovative solutions. These aspects made it clear that Zip was a great place to work and somewhere I could grow professionally and personally.
Thinking about the way you get your best work done, how does Zip support your wellbeing?
Reflecting on how I get my best work done, Zip supports my wellbeing through tailored approaches and resources. These include quarterly wellbeing days, weekly lunches in the Sydney office, and having the opportunity to be a part of the Zip basketball team, among many other initiatives.
Our senior leaders prioritise and actively promote employee wellbeing, setting a positive example that filters down to the rest of the team. Their commitment to wellbeing highlights its importance and fosters a culture where everyone feels supported.
At Zip, we believe our teams should reflect the diversity of our customers. Why do you think this is important?
One of our core values is Customer First and the diversity within our teams reflects the diversity of our customers. Providing a voice to a wide range of people across the team allows us to gain different perspectives and learn from each other to better improve the product we deliver to our customers.
What does Pride Month mean to you?
Pride month is a time for me to celebrate my identity openly and proudly, without fear of judgement, alongside a supportive community that shares my experiences as a woman of colour in the LGBTQ+ community. It is also a time to reflect on the history of the LGBTQ+ community.
