Write your story with Zip

As Legal Counsel in our ANZ Legal team, your role is instrumental in enabling sustainable growth for Zip. We’ll lean on your commercial, contractual and regulatory expertise as we build new products, onboard new merchant partners, and ensure we meet our regulatory obligations.

Reporting to our General Counsel for ANZ and partnering with senior stakeholders across our commercial, product, compliance and finance functions, as well as our executive team, we’ll leverage your experience of transactional matters and consumer finance regulations. This is a key role that helps unlock value for Zip’s customers and partners, while maintaining the integrity of our business.

You’ll own the review, drafting and negotiation of commercial agreements across a wide variety of channels, and we will rely on your legal expertise to ensure agreements comply with the regulatory requirements and ensure ongoing compliance.

We’ll rely on your understanding of legal matters relating to financial services products and services, as well as your knowledge of transactions - you'll enable our commercial teams to strategically understand deals, ensure agreements are commercially sound, and can be operationally supported.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a lawyer with expertise across commercial transactions and financial services to apply their skills in a fast-paced, growth technology business. Come and help us become the first payment choice, everywhere and every day!

What you’ll bring to the team

  • 3-7 years legal experience gained with top-tier law firms or in-house counsel positions
  • Extensive experience reviewing, drafting, negotiating and closing commercial agreements - such as non-disclosure, vendor, acquisition or investment agreements
  • Familiarity with structured finance such as debt facilities, and associated legal concepts
  • Understanding of the regulatory regime and laws impacting fintech or consumer finance in Australia (New Zealand is a plus)
  • Excellent communication, influencing and negotiation skills
  • Proven critical thinking and problem-solving skills, including the capacity to make decisions with imperfect information
  • Desire to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Expert prioritisation skills
  • A can do attitude and the ability to find solutions in complex situations
  • Our values in your DNA: Customer First, Own It, Stronger Together and Change the Game
