Reporting to the Director of Investor Relations & Sustainability, the purpose of this role is to support Zip’s maturity and approach to sustainability and ESG through strategic leadership and project management of key programs and external disclosures. 

The ideal candidate will have a background in leading sustainability strategies, excellent communication and analytical skills, and the ability to manage diverse stakeholder groups across ANZ and the US.

The ideal candidate must also have experience in managing internal and external sustainability reporting processes and with climate-related disclosures. 

Interesting problems you’ll get to solve

  • Evolve and implement the Group’s sustainability strategy (providing SME knowledge on environmental sustainability and climate change) in collaboration with the Head of DEI & Wellbeing and Director of Investor Relations & Sustainability 
  • Lead sustainability initiatives across our material ESG topics, working cross-functionally with teams including People & Culture, Product, and Operations 
  • Manage and ensure accurate and timely delivery of external disclosures aligned to recognised frameworks (e.g. CDP, CSA, AASB) 
  • Provide sustainability data and insights to support Zip’s external communications, including our Annual Report, Quarterly updates, and AGM meetings
  • Provide progress updates, insights and strategic advice to senior leadership and the Board relating to sustainability and alignment with business strategy
  • Lead Zip’s preparation for upcoming AASB Sustainability reporting requirements, collaborating cross-functionally with teams such as Finance and Legal
  • Respond to external ESG benchmarks and surveys, address investor and customer queries, and provide insights to enhance ESG performance.
  • Manage the measurement of Zip’s GHG emissions across scope 1, 2 and 3 (in collaboration with external consultants) and setting of targets and plans for emission reductions.
  • Evolve and implement Zip’s sustainability narrative in collaboration with the Communications and Executive teams 
  • Engage Zipsters in sustainability, including through internal communications, events (such as the Zipsternet and Lunch & Learns), and opportunities to contribute 
  • Engage Zipsters in volunteering, including planning company-wide volunteer events (in collaboration with P&C) 
  • Support with Zip’s charity and fundraising initiatives, engaging Zipters as well as merchant partners and customers

What you’ll bring to the team

  • At least five years technical and functional experience relating to sustainability/ corporate social responsibility/ESG
  • Experience leading disclosure programs and developing sustainability strategies
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to distil complex information in a concise way to stakeholders 
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills
  • Ability to work with stakeholders of all levels, markets and business units 
  • Good relationship building skills and the ability to proactively seek out internal stakeholders who will be crucial to the delivery of sustainability initiatives
