A key contributor to our continued growth in the US, the Commercial team is responsible for establishing and building trusted relationships with the world’s biggest brands. Beyond helping merchants see the value of alternative payment options like Zip, our team of strategic sales experts are laser-focused on hunting down new business opportunities and closing complex deals.

The Merchant Operations Manager oversees the day-to-day activities related to merchant operations within the Merchant Squad. Responsibilities include managing merchant onboarding, ensuring compliance with regulations and company policies, and optimizing processes to enhance merchant satisfaction and efficiency. This role requires strong communication skills, analytical abilities, and a keen understanding of both business operations and the needs of merchant partners.

Interesting problems you’ll get to solve

  • In-store Processing and Fulfillment
    • Develop and maintain strong relationships with vendors and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of in-store assets and adherence to quality standards
    • Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms with vendors to maximize value and minimize costs
    • Evaluate vendor performance and implement improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and reliability
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including sales, account management,, and marketing, to coordinate order fulfillment activities and resolve issues
  • Monitor order status and inventory levels to identify potential bottlenecks or supply chain disruptions and implement corrective actions
  • Inventory Management:
    • Manage inventory planning, forecasting, and allocation to optimize stock levels and minimize stock outs and overstock situations
    • Implement inventory control procedures to track inventory accuracy, reconcile discrepancies, and prevent shrinkage
    • Work closely with merchandising teams to develop inventory strategies based on sales forecasts, seasonality, and market trends
  • Process Improvement and Optimization:
    • Identify opportunities for process improvement and optimization within merchant operations, including workflow automation, system enhancements, and best practice implementation
    • Lead cross-functional initiatives to streamline processes, reduce costs, and improve operational efficiency

What you’ll bring to the team 

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, supply chain management, operations management, or a related field. Advanced degree or professional certification (e.g., CPIM, CSCP) is a plus
  • 4+ years of experience in operations management, supply chain management, or related field, with a focus on retail or e-commerce operations
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders at all levels of the organization
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities, with experience leading and developing teams in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
  • Proficiency in inventory management systems, order management systems, and other relevant technology platforms
  • Knowledge of retail operations, supply chain management principles, and best practices

The Pay Range for this position: $75,000 - 105,000 USD based on the industry benchmark for position, function, level and Zip's compensation strategies. However, actual base salary will depend on varying circumstances and individualized factors, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. 

Subject to those same considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a bonus and/or equity awards, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
