We’ve all been there: The electric bill is due on the 12th, but payday isn’t until the 15th. Somewhere in between, a visit to the vet and a car repair show up uninvited.
When bills and payday don’t line up, options can feel limited: drain your savings, rack up a late fee, or stress about which bill to delay.
None of which are good solutions, but there’s a better way to handle it.
Buy now pay later plans (or BNPLs) like Zip can help you stay on top of your bills and unexpected expenses by offering you the option to pay in installments over time.
Zip is an app that helps you split bills into installments instead of paying everything at once, and it's built specifically with everyday expenses—not just retail purchases—in mind.
Why bills feel so hard to manage
Why bills feel so hard to manage
Sometimes it’s less about how much money you make and more about timing.
Most people get paid once or twice each month, but your bills don’t care about your pay schedule. Utilities, phone, internet, insurance, and subscriptions all have their own due dates, which rarely coordinate with each other (much less your bank account).
The result is a phenomenon most of us know all too well: A week where everything seems to hit at once with no good solution. Even if you can technically afford all of these costs across the month, covering them in a single window is a different story.
Thankfully, Zip’s buy now pay later option is designed to fill this gap.
What is buy now pay later for bills?
You’ve probably heard of buy now pay later for retail or travel. That is, splitting a purchase into smaller payments over time. The same idea applies to your everyday bills and expenses.
With Zip, you can pay bills over time instead of all at once. When a bill is due, you pay 50% upfront and the remaining 50% is automatically charged two weeks later. Your provider gets paid in full immediately, while you spread the cost on a schedule that works for you.1
It’s a straightforward way to build a little breathing room into your budget without falling behind.

For unexpected bills: Pay in 2
When a surprise expense hits, Pay in 2 lets you cover the costs without wiping out your budget. Pay half now, pay half in two weeks, and keep moving forward.1
For monthly bills: My Bills
If you want to get ahead of your regular expenses, My Bills is Zip's built-in hub for managing recurring bills all in one place. You can save your providers, set due date reminders, and pay on your schedule.
