Zip Money is an interest-bearing account. If a purchase reaches the end of its interest-free period and hasn’t been fully repaid, the remaining balance will begin accruing interest.
To make this clearer, your Zip app now shows a balance breakdown directly under your Total owing:
- Available – the remaining credit you can spend
- Interest free – balances still within their interest-free period
- Interest bearing – balances that are currently attracting interest
If an amount appears under Interest bearing, it means the interest-free period has expired and interest is now being charged on that portion of your balance.
How to check interest-free expiry on a specific purchase
You can view each purchase’s interest-free period in the Zip app:
- Log in to your Zip app
- Tap "Activity"
- Tap the purchase to view its interest-free expiry date
Please Note: Monthly interest charges are also listed in your Zip Money statement, which is emailed to you and available in your online account.
